Anthony Leahy pleaded guilty this week to numerous felonies involving the theft of nearly a million dollars from an electronics manufacturer in Camarillo, said prosecutor Howard Wise.
Leahy, 46, will be sentenced Feb. 9.
His wife, Dolly Ann Leahy, recently pleaded guilty to one count of corporate embezzlement and two counts of money laundering. She was expected to be sentenced Friday, but it was postponed to Jan. 25.
The Leahys, formerly of Moorpark, are being held without bail in County Jail.
Wise said Anthony Leahy pleaded guilty Wednesday to multiple counts of money laundering, embezzlement, conspiracy, failure to file state taxes and tax evasion.
Dolly Ann Leahy, formerly known as Dolly Barrera, recently pleaded guilty to stealing more than $500,000 from her former employer, Power-One, an electronics manufacturer. She pleaded guilty to one count of corporate embezzlement and two counts of money laundering.
Prosecutors said this is how the Leahys stole the money:
Dolly Leahy, 37, was a buyer for Power-One and responsible for purchasing parts needed by the company. Without permission from Power-One, Leahy began buying parts from AT Components, a shell company run by her husband.
Dolly Leahy got the company to pay as much as 200 times the market price for products from AT Components. From February to October 2002, she placed orders for more than $1.7 million worth of merchandise.
Ultimately, Power-One ended up losing about $975,000, money that the Leahys wired to offshore accounts.
In the fall of 2005, Dolly Leahy was arrested in the Cayman Islands. She eventually waived extradition and was brought to Ventura County, say prosecutors.
Anthony Leahy was arrested in May 2006 when he flew from England to Las Vegas. He also waived extradition to Ventura County.
