A former police officer has been charged with money laundering.

Emma Wheatcroft, 24, from Neath Hill also faces six charges on counts of wilful misconduct in a judicial or public office and one count of obtaining personal data contrary to the Data Protection Act.

She was charged yesterday along with 24-year-old Matthew Nyack, of Crownhill.

Mr Nyack has been charged with three charges related to drug offences, three related to aiding and abetting a person in a public office and one of money laundering.

The pair will appear at magistrates' court next month.

Ms Wheatcroft was one of three officers arrested in July after an internal investigation.

A member of the police staff was also arrested after the probe by the forces professional standards department.

The other officers and the member of staff were later released without charge.
