ISLAMABAD, Feb 8 (APP): The European Union (EU) has expressed willingness to extend support to Pakistan in the field of border management and anti-terrorist financing.
A four-member delegation of EU headed by Gijs M. De Vries Counter Terrorism Coordinator of EU Thursday visited National Crisis Management Centre (NCMC) of Interior Ministry and held discussions on wide ranging issues encompassing international counter terrorism efforts.
Director General NCMC Brig ® Javed Iqbal Cheema presented an over view of Pakistan’s efforts in the field of counter terrorism.
He emphasized that international community must understand and take effective steps to address the root causes of terrorism which include poverty, social injustice and lack of education.
Gijs M. De Vries appreciated Pakistan government’s efforts to fight out the menace and for taking effective steps in the right direction.
He also indicated EU’s willingness to contribute in education and poverty alleviation sectors of public reforms in Pakistan to address the root causes of terrorism.
