India and Australia are a few steps away from "practical cooperation" arrangements in intelligence, law enforcement, border security, and fight against terrorist financing and money laundering, reported local daily Indian Express on Friday.
The newspaper quoted unnamed sources in the Indian capital as saying that the cooperation arrangements will be discussed at the next meeting of the bilateral Joint Working Group on Counter-Terrorism and Immigration in New Delhi.
Discussions were held about these aspects between visiting Australian Foreign Minister Stephen Smith and his Indian counterpart S.M. Krishna during the former's visit to India this week, said the report.
There was convergence of views on action against terrorism between the two countries, especially in the backdrop of Mumbai terror attacks last November, said the newspaper.
