The government is committed to improve the performance of Pakistan’s anti-terrorism setup by bringing efficient coordination among relevant organizations and by amending certain laws to prevent terrorist financing, said Minister for Law, Justice and Human Rights Farooq H. Naek here on Tuesday.
Talking to Sir Ken McDonald, Director of Public Prosecution of England and Wales, hare at his office Naek was of the view that the processes of investigation, prosecution, and justice delivery should be well coordinated to keep governments on the path of due process of law while dealing with terrorism.
Sir McDonald who is famous in Britain for his support for a “culture of legislative restraint” in passing laws to deal with terrorism, appreciated Law Minister’s efforts and understanding.
He said that he has repeatedly warned the British government of the risks involved in a “fear-driven and inappropriate” response to terrorism which he thinks could lead Britain to abandon respect for fair trials and the due process of law.
