The Punjab PML-N vice president, MNA Malik Afzal Khokhar, has said the illegal transfer of billions of dollars from the country deepened the economic crisis, giving Pakistan in the tentacles of the IMF.
According to a press release issued on Saturday, the PML-N Parliamentarian, expressing grave concern over the transfer of huge amount of foreign exchange abroad, said it was failure of the government in nabbing the backhanders of the conspiracy. He said the country was cash strapped and facing economic problems and the government should make serious efforts to address the issue.
The MNA also demanded the PPP take steps for scrapping 17th amendment, adding it was the PPP’s tactics that it had formed committees for such issues which it did not want to resolve. He said no committee was constituted for the reinstatement of government employees which were removed during the premiership of Mian Nawaz Sharif. He said shortage of life saving drugs was also a result of poor planning as indication by the government to raise prices of medicines had resulted in the disappearance of drugs from the market.
He regretted that those at the helm of affairs were unaware of the difficulties and worries of masses, adding that increase in prices of drugs would add to their woes. He said the federal government should follow the suit of the Punjab government and take initiatives for providing relief to the masses that were facing problems due to high inflation rate and price- hike.
