Number of convictions for money-laundering to grow in Russia

The number of people convicted of legalizing criminal proceeds will grow considerably in 2006, Viktor Zubkov, the head of the Russian Federal Service for Fiscal Monitoring (FSFM), told journalists today.

Zubkov pointed out that in the second half of 2006 the law enforcement authorities have opened 257 criminal cases, the same as in the first half of the year. He also said that more information requests had been filed to the Federal Service by the law enforcement authorities.
